Neighborhood Street Rep FAQs

A Street Rep is someone who is concerned about conserving our land and water. They realize if they don’t act now, it will be too late the next time a “Bridal Veil Falls” is up for sale. 

What do they do? 

Street Reps encourage their neighbors to “speak up” on important issues by emailing, calling and attending critical meetings. 

Why are they so important? 

Street Reps are the voice of Conserve Utah Valley (CUV), a non-profit, non-partisan organization committed to preserving access to the wilderness and open spaces you love. Without Street Reps, CUV is a good idea without any execution. 

What’s the urgency? 

The best way to prevent battles is to anticipate them. By being proactive, we can help shape development outcomes in ways that work for everyone. 

How would I know what to do? 

CUV provides monthly updates on what is happening and what you can do to be of help. 

Who is Conserve Utah Valley? 

Conserve Utah Valley is a non-profit organization committed to protecting and sustaining the treasured canyons, foothills, open spaces, and waters of Utah Valley and to inspire love for these special places for generations to come. As Bridal Veil Falls recently faced serious threats of potential development, concerned citizens who have worked for years on conservation issues in Utah Valley came to realize this area lacks a cohesive group to speak up on environmental conservation. It is our goal to become the organization filling that need. Conserve Utah Valley seeks to work collaboratively with all levels of government, the business community, and individuals to preserve spaces that add so much to our quality of life. 

If I became a Neighborhood Street Rep, what would be expected of me? 

We see our Street Reps as foundational to our success. We have to help the citizens of Utah Valley wake up and see how many of our beloved open spaces are being threatened by over development. We aren’t against development; we just want to protect the jewels of Utah Valley–Bridal Veil Falls, South Fork Canyon, and Slate Canyon, among others–by beginning and guiding the discussion. We educate one neighbor at a time. As a Street Rep, your responsibility would be to encourage 10 of your neighbors to “speak up” to policy makers by writing emails, making calls and attending critical public meetings when an issue comes up. With united voices we can make a difference before it’s too late.
